Predictive near-field underwater explosive analysis prediction with coupled structural response is vital within the process of vessel design for survivability as well as mitigating future costs of live fire testing. However, full-scale explosive shock test requires massive amount of time and money and is subject to ocean environmental regulation. In order to overcome these limitations, our research team focus on identifying lower-cost techniques and processes which enable full scale test and evaluation of underwater shock test.
On this project, we concentrate on our underwater shock research on the basic research for non-explosive underwater shock test technique. Several alternative sources of underwater explosion are investigated and the requirements of shock test are determined. Numerical simulation model will be established for non-explosive sources test. Finally, prototype of non-explosive underwater shock test will be developed
